Books Cost Increase - Stable

Transportation Cost Increase - 103% Over 3 years
Transportation expenses remained stable at $1,154 for two years before jumping to $2,342 in 2024–25, a 103% increase from the previous year.
Personal Expense Increase – 8.7% Over 3 years
Miscellaneous expenses, which include personal and lifestyle-related costs, rose moderately each year, from $8,137 in 2022–23 to $8,568 in 2023–24 and then to $8,846 in 2024–25, marking an 8.7% overall increase across the period. Loan fees held steady at $216 throughout all three years.
Total Cost – 6.9% Increase Over 3 years
Overall, the rising cost reflects steady tuition increases and updated estimates for living and transportation in New York City, with the most notable spike occurring in transportation costs in the most recent year.
Despite the increase in expense across the board, a 6.9% increase in three years is a reasonable hike for a school like NYU Stern, which is at the edge of the PayScale group as M7 schools.
